Kayaks and canoes, inflatables, rentals, sea kayaks, trailers, cheap and discounted, paddles, racks, rudders, travel,
fishing, sailing, storage, and used are offered in this section. Kayaks come in many different sizes and shapes. There are
tandem types for two people or for extra load. There are those for solo or single seat. Then, there are the sit-on-top designed
and the sit-in-side designed. Kayaks are used for various purposes. Some are used for just sports riding. Some are used for
fishing purposes. Some are heavy and cumbersome, especially those used for fishing. Some kayaks are long and narrow while
others are wider and shorter but carry more gear. The longer and narrow ones are, generally, faster than the wider and shorter
ones. Fishermen tend to favor the longer and narrow kayaks for speed which is important when covering longer distance in large
bodies of water.

A kayak is a non-motorized craft (among the kayaks and canoes). You are the engine so you can’t think of it as
a car or similar vehicle. A kayak has limitations as to how fast it can go. Part of it is its design and the rest is dependent
upon its power source with that source being you. Some kayaks have a top speed of only a few miles per hour while there are
others that are much faster. There are also a couple types of speed called top speed and cruising speed. Top speed is how
fast the kayak can travel when maximum effort is applied. It is similar to the top speed of your vehicle. It does not serve
much of a purpose, as you can not drive that fast most of the time. Your body is the kayaks and canoes engine and you can
not paddle that hard for very long. Cruising speed is the important speed. It is the speed at which you can comfortably propel
the kayak. Cruising speed will vary as it depends upon your conditioning and your kayak. Your cruising speed will most likely
increase as your conditioning improves with regular paddling, and as you become a better paddler. Then, it will become a relative
constant that is affected by other factors such as wind and current.

If you are interested in fishing, there are two types of kayaks that you should consider. There is the sit-on-top kayak
and there is the sit-in-side kayak. Each type has models that are good for fishermen and bad for fishermen. The sit-in-side
kayak is the traditional style of kayak that most people are familiar with. The occupant sits inside the kayak and there is
usually a skirt that goes around the waist and seals the inside of the kayak from the elements. Without a skirt the kayak
becomes a fair weather craft as any water entering the kayak becomes trapped and has to be physically removed. The sit-on-top
kayaks are considered the new breeds of kayaks. They are essentially glorified surf boards. Rather then sitting in the kayak,
you sit on top of the kayak. There is not any need for sponges or pumps as the kayak is self-bailing. They were created as
recreational kayaks that were originally used at warm water resorts as play vessels. Their popularity has been increasing
each year and besides resort use they are also used for general recreation, kayak surfing, fishing, and other kayaks and canoes
uses.
